What kinds of counseling do you offer?

How do I make an appointment with a counselor?
Its easy. Simply give us a call or use the contact page here to send us an email. Of course, you can also call or email if you have questions. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate walk-in appointments.
Do you take insurance?
Dr. Russell has established relationships with Manitoba Justice's Compensation for Victims of Crime Program and some local congregations and Church conferences. He also is an approved provider with some Employee Assistance Plans: Solareh, Ceridian, Com Psych for example. Check your coverage to see how to get started.
How long are sessions?
Individual sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long. Family, couple and group sessions may be longer. Some people choose to book a two-hour appointment since they are travelling from a distance, and want to make the trip less frequently.
What is Coaching?
Coaching is not unlike counseling in totality, however it tends to be more focused on motivation, possibilities, and goals. Wikipedia defines coaching as “a method of directing, instructing and training a person or group of people, with the aim to achieve some goal or develop specific skills.”
I heard that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy works best. Do you use that technique. What perspective or theoretical approach does the staff of Russell and Associates use?
We have a variety of professionals who work from a variety of perspectives and have different specialties. It is a resource for our clients as we can connect you with someone with whom you will feel most comfortable. In general, all our therapists work from a strengths based and wellness approach. In fact the best research indicates very strongly that therapy works and what matters most is that the client feels a connection with the therapist and how he or she is approaching things. All our therapists are exellent at adjusting to meet their clients where they are at.
Do you use faith sensitive counseling?
Yes. Please just let your therapist know that you are interested in faith-based counseling when you make an appointment, or during your first session. We welcome people from a variety of faith backgrounds, as well as those who with no faith background. We value diversity, and respect your beliefs.
